TLDR Combining laser hair removal with topical eflornithine is recommended for better results in treating unwanted facial hair.
Hirsutism affected 5-15% of the population and often resulted in unwanted facial hair, which was particularly distressing. Treatment required addressing the underlying cause and reducing visible hair. Laser hair removal was effective but not always sufficient, necessitating combination therapy. Pharmacological treatments, such as topical eflornithine, were used alongside laser hair removal to enhance results, as drug treatments took time to show effects. The expert working group reviewed clinical data and provided guidelines for using eflornithine with laser therapy for patients with resistant hirsutism.
