TLDR NOC-4 extract promotes black hair and hair growth effectively.
The study evaluated the antioxidant, black hair, and hair growth effects of mixed extracts from Nardostachys jatamansi, Ocimum basilicum, and Crocus sativus. Among the four samples tested, NOC-4, extracted using steaming and ultrasonic methods, showed the highest antioxidant activity, melanin production, and hair growth efficacy (0.94 mm at 500 mg/kg). NOC-4 exhibited significant radical scavenging activities and increased melanin production by 162.6% without cytotoxicity, maintaining over 95% cell viability in mouse melanoma cells. The results suggest that the extraction method enhances the efficacy of the extracts, indicating potential as natural agents for black hair and hair growth.
