TLDR The polyherbal oil with Eclipta alba, Hibiscus rosa sinensis, and Nardostachys jatamansi was found to be highly effective in promoting hair growth, better than minoxidil.
In 2009, researchers tested a polyherbal oil formulation for hair growth on Wistar albino rats, which included Eclipta alba, Hibiscus rosa sinensis, and Nardostachys jatamansi. The study compared the effects of this herbal oil to a 2% minoxidil solution and found that the herbal treatment significantly accelerated the initiation and completion of hair growth. Additionally, the herbal oil resulted in a higher number of hair follicles in the anagen phase (82) compared to both the control group (52) and the minoxidil group. The study concluded that the polyherbal formulation, particularly the DF3 formulation, was highly effective in promoting hair growth and could serve as a potent herbal alternative to minoxidil.
