TLDR Herbal formulations with certain herbs can boost hair growth as effectively as minoxidil.
The study evaluated the hair growth activity of herbal formulations containing Emblica officinalis, Bacopa monnieri, Trigonella foenum-graecum, and Murraya koenigii in various concentrations (1-10%) in the form of herbal oil. Results indicated that hair growth activity was proportional to the concentration of each drug, with higher concentrations showing greater efficacy. The optimal formulation, containing 7.5% of each drug, demonstrated excellent hair growth activity comparable to 2% minoxidil ethanolic solution, by enlarging follicular size and prolonging the anagen phase. The most effective preparation method was the cloth pouch decoction technique. This formulation showed promise as a potent herbal alternative to minoxidil.
