TLDR Some plants like Eclipta alba, Nardostachys jatamansi, and Rumex japonicus may help hair growth.
The 2018 document "An update on plants for hair growth promoting activities" reviewed the potential of various plants in promoting hair growth. The study highlighted Eclipta alba, Nardostachys jatamansi, and Rumex japonicus as promising. Eclipta alba was found to stimulate hair matrix keratinocyte proliferation and downregulate TGF-ß1 expression, beneficial for hair growth. Nardostachys jatamansi showed potential in promoting hair growth in studies on its rhizome. Rumex japonicus also demonstrated a hair growth-promoting effect. These plants were suggested as potential natural remedies for hair loss and alopecia, but more research was needed to confirm these findings and understand the mechanisms behind their effects.
