TLDR The 1927 nm fractional thulium laser effectively treats acne by targeting and improving affected skin areas.
This case series examined the use of a 1927 nm fractional thulium laser (FTL) for treating acne vulgaris in 9 Korean subjects aged 13 to 33 years. The study found that the FTL effectively reduced both inflammatory and noninflammatory acne lesions, with a significant decrease in lesion counts over a 32-week follow-up. The treatment involved 5 to 6 sessions and resulted in minimal downtime, mild pain, and no adverse events. The laser targets sebaceous glands and Cutibacterium acnes, promoting follicular remodeling. Despite the small sample size, all subjects reported satisfaction with the results, suggesting the FTL as a promising alternative to conventional acne treatments. Further research with larger populations is needed to validate these findings.
