TLDR A treatment combining laser energy and injections improved hair loss and unexpectedly also reduced hair graying.
In 2017, a 55-year-old male patient with Male Pattern Hair Loss (MPHL) underwent 12 weekly treatments combining a 1,927-nm fractionated thulium laser and intra-perifollicular Polydeoxyribonucleotide (PDRN) injections. The treatment involved delivering approximately 120 shots of thulium laser energy to the scalp and injecting 2 ml of PDRN into the deep dermis along the frontal, mid, and vertex areas. A growth factor solution was applied topically to the scalp after each treatment. The patient reported satisfaction with the improvement in hair counts and hair thickness. Unexpectedly, the treatment also resulted in an improvement in hair graying, particularly along the frontal hairline and vertex area. This was confirmed through digital images and magnified views, showing improved hair graying and pigmented hair shaft counts, as well as hair counts and hair thickness.
