    UV-induced DNA damage refers to the harm caused to DNA by ultraviolet (UV) radiation from sources like the sun. This damage can result in mutations, such as thymine dimers, where two adjacent thymine bases bond together, disrupting normal DNA replication and potentially leading to skin cancers and other genetic disorders.
