    GlossaryProstate Cancer Prevention Trial

large-scale study testing finasteride's effect on prostate cancer risk

The Prostate Cancer Prevention Trial (PCPT) was a large-scale clinical study aimed at determining whether the drug finasteride could reduce the risk of prostate cancer in men. Conducted by the National Cancer Institute, the trial found that finasteride significantly lowered the incidence of prostate cancer, although it also raised concerns about an increased risk of high-grade tumors.
