    Glossary Estrone

hormone involved in female reproductive health and menopause

Estrone, also known as E1, is one of the three main types of estrogen hormones produced by the human body. It is primarily synthesized in the ovaries and adipose tissue and plays a crucial role in regulating the menstrual cycle and reproductive system. Estrone levels can fluctuate with age, being more prominent in postmenopausal women, and it can also be converted into other forms of estrogen, such as estradiol (E2).
