TLDR Scalp psoriasis is linked to impaired hair growth with more hair in the resting phase.
This study investigated hair density and the anagen/telogen ratio in 30 psoriatic patients with scalp involvement compared to 30 healthy individuals using TrichoScan. While hair density did not significantly differ between the two groups, psoriasis patients exhibited a significantly lower anagen ratio and a higher telogen ratio (P<0.01). These findings indicated that scalp psoriasis was associated with an increased telogen/anagen ratio, suggesting impaired hair growth in affected individuals. There was no correlation between hair parameters and patient age or disease duration.
