TLDR Total glucosides of paeony can help treat skin conditions but need more research for clinical use.
Total glucosides of paeony (TGP), derived from Paeonia lactiflora Pall., exhibit various biological effects such as immunomodulatory and anti-inflammatory activities. They have shown promising therapeutic effects in treating disorders across multiple systems, including dermatological conditions, where TGP significantly improves symptoms and reduces disease duration. Despite these benefits, existing studies on TGP lack scientific rigor, and its clinical application remains limited. This review explores TGP's sources, preparation, pharmacological research, and clinical applications in dermatology, highlighting mechanisms of action, research gaps, and future directions to guide further clinical research.
