TLDR Both PRP and L-GF treatments improved hair transplant results, with L-GF being slightly better, but the difference was not significant.
The study compared the effectiveness of platelet-rich plasma (PRP) injection and lyophilized growth factors (L-GFs) injection in hair transplantation in 40 male patients with crown area baldness. The patients were divided into two groups of 20 each, with one group receiving L-GF injections and the other PRP injections. The treatments were administered in 3 sessions before and 3 sessions after hair transplantation. The results showed no significant difference between the two treatments in terms of hair density, length, patient satisfaction, redness, surgeon satisfaction, texture, and thickness of hair at 1, 2, and 6 months. However, there was a significant difference in hair density and redness at 3 months. Both PRP and L-GF therapy were found to be beneficial in providing quicker hair density and reducing the recovery period. The results of L-GF were slightly better than PRP, but the difference was not statistically significant. L-GF has advantages over PRP in terms of standardization of the preparation procedure and higher concentrations of growth factors.
