Prospective, Open-Label, Multi-Center, Randomized Study to Compare the Effectiveness, Safety, and Tolerability of Lulican Shampoo Versus Ketoconazole Shampoo in Indian Adult Patients With Mild to Moderate Scalp Seborrheic Dermatitis (LEAD Study)

TLDR Lulican™ shampoo is more effective and better tolerated than Ketoconazole for treating scalp seborrheic dermatitis.
The study compared the effectiveness, safety, and tolerability of Lulican™ shampoo and Ketoconazole shampoo in treating mild to moderate scalp seborrheic dermatitis in Indian adults. Conducted over four weeks, the study found that Lulican™ resulted in a 68% reduction in the Seborrheic-Dermatitis-Severity-Score (SDSS) compared to 57.9% with Ketoconazole. Additionally, 58% of patients using Lulican™ achieved excellent to moderate responses, versus 44% with Ketoconazole. Both treatments were well tolerated, but Lulican™ showed significantly better product tolerability and cosmetic acceptability. Quality of life, measured by the Scalpdex-23 score, improved by 35.7% with Lulican™ compared to 21.1% with Ketoconazole. The study concluded that Lulican™ is a preferred treatment option due to its superior improvement in quality of life.
