Prospective, Open-Label, Multi-Center, Randomized Study to Compare the Effectiveness, Safety, and Tolerability of Lulican Shampoo Versus Ketoconazole Shampoo in Indian Adult Patients With Mild to Moderate Scalp Seborrheic Dermatitis (LEAD Study)

This study demonstrated that a 12-week treatment with luliconazole-containing shampoo significantly reduced scalp scaling, erythema, and itching in adults with seborrheic dermatitis, achieving high tolerability and progressive symptom improvement without reported intolerance or recurrences.

This study reviewed existing knowledge and research, observing that ketoconazole shampoo is a safe and effective treatment for scalp seborrheic dermatitis, significantly improving irritation and scaling while maintaining low relapse rates and minimal side effects.

In this open-label study, the researchers observed that using Kerascalp hair serum daily for 90 days improved hair thickness, density, and strength while reducing hair loss in subjects with mild to moderate androgenetic alopecia, with benefits persisting even after discontinuation.

This in-vitro study reported that a luliconazole-based formulation improved hair cuticle integrity and was more effective than ketoconazole in repairing damaged hair after 5 and 10 washes, with sensory analysis supporting these results. Further human studies are needed to confirm its clinical effects.

In this double-blind randomized controlled trial, both rosemary extract lotion and 2% ketoconazole lotion were effective for treating scalp seborrheic dermatitis, but rosemary lotion reduced itching more significantly, while ketoconazole was more effective in reducing dandruff.
