TLDR Seborrheic dermatitis lowers quality of life more for women, younger people, and those with more education.
The study involved 3000 patients with seborrheic dermatitis and/or dandruff and assessed the impact of these conditions on quality of life (QoL) using the Dermatology Life Quality Index (DLQI). The average DLQI score was 6.92 ± 5.34, indicating a moderate impact on QoL. Those with only dandruff had a better QoL (5.34 ± 4.67) than those with seborrheic dermatitis (7.73 ± 5.3) or both conditions (7.54 ± 5.6). The negative impact on QoL was greater in women, younger patients, and those with higher educational levels. The study concluded that seborrheic dermatitis significantly affects QoL and that the DLQI is effective for QoL assessment in large-scale studies.
