TLDR Goat placenta in microneedle patches is effective and safe for skin regeneration.
This study investigated the skin regeneration potential of bioactive placental extracts from deer, goat, and porcine sources, using dissolving microneedles (DMNs) for dermal delivery. The extracts contained high levels of proteins, growth factors, and amino acids, and were non-toxic to skin cells. Goat placenta (GP) extract demonstrated the highest efficacy in promoting fibroblast cell proliferation, migration, and regeneration. When loaded into DMNs, the GP extract showed enhanced skin permeation and was safe for human application, suggesting that GP-loaded DMNs could be a novel approach for skin regeneration.
