TLDR Three cost-effective methods accurately measure finasteride in pharmaceuticals, better than current techniques.
This paper presents three sensitive and cost-effective methods for determining finasteride in pharmaceuticals using a bromate-bromide reagent and three dyes. The methods were validated by applying them to assay three brands of finasteride tablets, and the results showed close agreement between the results obtained by the proposed methods and the label claim. The proposed methods are simple, rapid, and cost-effective, and are more sensitive than existing HPLC and UV-specrophotometric methods. These advantages coupled with good accuracy and precision make the methods highly suitable for routine use in laboratories as a part of industrial quality control.
