TLDR Following hair transplant surgery, proper self-care is crucial for successful recovery and hair growth.
This qualitative study of 16 patients (75% male, 25% female, mean age 30 ± 6.25 years) post-hair transplantation for androgenetic alopecia identified six key self-management challenges: adherence to postoperative medication and wound care, regular follow-up reviews, establishing healthy lifestyle habits, managing adverse emotions, concerns about appearance during recovery, and proactive use of recovery resources. The findings suggest that targeted interventions to improve self-management skills could enhance long-term outcomes and patient satisfaction. The study emphasizes the need for better patient education and follow-up, though its small sample size and single-center data limit generalizability.
