TLDR Hair transplantation surgery improves loneliness, anxiety, and depression in men with hair loss.
This study assessed the impact of hair transplantation surgery on loneliness, anxiety, and depression in 35 male patients with androgenetic alopecia. Using the UCLA and HADS questionnaires, the study found significant improvements in psychosocial outcomes post-surgery. Specifically, there was a statistically significant reduction in anxiety and depression scores (p < 0.001), with the mean score improving to 3.32, and a significant decrease in loneliness scores, with the average improving to 4.48. Additionally, marital status and educational level were significantly related to changes in loneliness, anxiety, and depression (p < 0.001). The study concludes that hair transplantation surgery can positively affect psychosocial well-being in these patients.
