TLDR Ruxolitinib helps protect skin stem cells and keeps skin healthy in mice with skin GVHD.
The study found that skin graft-versus-host disease (GVHD) targeted Lgr5+ hair follicle stem cells (HFSCs), leading to impaired hair regeneration and wound healing. Unlike corticosteroids, topical ruxolitinib protected these Lgr5+ skin stem cells and maintained skin homeostasis in murine models of skin GVHD.
