TLDR Rosehip oil reduces wrinkles and UV spots and may have antimicrobial benefits.
This pilot study evaluated the effects of cold-pressed Rosa canina seed oil on facial skin characteristics in 27 volunteers aged 30–65 over a five-week period. The study used advanced imaging technologies to assess changes in wrinkles, UV spots, and erythema. Results showed a significant reduction in wrinkle depth and UV spots, attributed to the oil's high carotenoid and vitamin A content. Porphyrin levels, linked to bacterial activity, also decreased, suggesting potential antimicrobial properties. While individual skin responses varied, the study supports the use of rosehip oil in anti-aging skincare, though further research is needed to explore long-term effects and mechanisms.
