Preparation and Properties of PVA/ZIF-8 Sustained-Release Fiber Loaded With Minoxidil Sulfate

    This study developed a novel PVA/ZIF-8 composite fiber that integrates sustained drug release with cosmetic hair coverage. Using a green wet spinning technique, minoxidil sulfate (MXS)-loaded ZIF-8 nanoparticles were combined with a polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) polymer matrix to create fibers with excellent mechanical properties, including a tensile strength of 2.5 cN/dtex and good aging resistance. The fibers demonstrated a high drug-loading capacity, allowing for sustained release of MXS for up to 220 hours. Additionally, the fibers can be processed into wigs, offering both therapeutic and cosmetic benefits. This innovation opens new applications for functional polymer composites in the biomedical field.
