The Role of Platelet-Rich Plasma Injections in Cases of Stress Incontinence
June 2022
TLDR PRP injections may effectively treat stress urinary incontinence in women.
This study investigated the use of platelet-rich plasma (PRP) injections as a treatment for stress urinary incontinence (SUI) in women. Conducted at Sayed Galal hospital, the study involved 20 patients who received PRP injections at the anterior vaginal wall near the external urethral sphincter. Symptom severity was assessed using self-reported questionnaires before treatment and at 1 and 3 months post-treatment. The results showed significant improvement in incontinence at both follow-up points, with no significant adverse reactions or changes in sexual function reported. The study concluded that PRP injections could be a viable treatment option for SUI and suggested further research into its clinical applications.
