TLDR PRP helps with skin, hair, and wound treatments but needs more research for standard use.
Platelet-rich plasma (PRP) is an autologous concentrate of platelets in a small volume of plasma, showing positive effects in aesthetic and regenerative medicine, as well as in dermatological diseases. The review highlights PRP's comprehensive action due to numerous growth factors, demonstrating benefits in skin rejuvenation, anti-aging, hair reconstruction, wound healing, scar reconstruction, and pigmentation disorders. Combining PRP with other treatments like laser therapy or microneedling enhances results. However, further multi-center studies are necessary to standardize treatment protocols and tailor them to specific issues.

Scalp biopsies are crucial for diagnosing hair loss conditions like Diffuse Unpatterned Alopecia (DUPA) and retrograde hair loss, as treatments like finasteride and dutasteride may not be effective if other conditions are present. Combining PPAR-GAMMA agonists with retinoids could improve treatments for conditions like Lichen Planopilaris.
