TLDR FDA-cleared devices may help treat hair loss, but more research needed; consult dermatologist before use.
This document is a guide for clinicians on using home-use devices cleared by the FDA for photobiomodulation therapy to treat androgenetic alopecia. The guide discusses 13 home-use photobiomodulation therapy devices that are FDA-cleared for treating androgenetic alopecia, but acknowledges that more research is needed to confirm their effectiveness. The devices are compared based on their design, features, clinical evidence, and safety. However, there are no head-to-head studies comparing the efficacy of these devices. It is recommended that patients consult with dermatologists before using these devices.
