TLDR Both types of oral contraceptives improved symptoms and hormone levels in women with PCOS.
The study compared the effects of drospirenone (DRSP) and chlormadinone acetate (CMA) containing oral contraceptives on clinical, hormonal, and metabolic parameters in 120 women with PCOS over 6 months. Both treatments showed similar positive effects, significantly improving clinical parameters like hirsutism and acne, and reducing hormonal levels such as LH, FSH, prolactin, testosterone, and DHEA-S. Metabolic parameters, including glucose and insulin levels, also showed significant changes. Despite these findings, further research was suggested to determine optimal treatment duration and explore long-term metabolic outcomes and alternative therapies.
