TLDR A 14-year-old boy is the youngest person reported with a rare, benign tumor related to hair follicles, usually found in older people.
Panfolliculoma (PF) is a rare benign follicular neoplasm that differentiates into all components of the hair follicle. This report discusses the youngest known case in a 14-year-old male, expanding the demographic spectrum of PF, which typically affects middle-aged and older individuals with a mean age of 56.6 years. Histopathological examination is crucial for accurate diagnosis, often distinguishing PF from other skin lesions. Among 44 cases, the cystic subtype is the most common. Immunohistochemical analysis helps identify follicular differentiation, and further genetic studies are needed to explore potential hereditary factors.
