TLDR MicroRNAs are important for skin development and diseases and could be used for treatment and diagnosis.
MicroRNAs (miRNAs) played a crucial role in skin morphogenesis and various skin diseases by regulating gene expression post-transcriptionally. They were involved in hair follicle development, with their absence in keratinocytes leading to defects. Specific miRNAs were associated with psoriasis, autoimmune skin diseases like SLE and ITP, wound healing, and skin cancer, with distinct miRNA signatures identified in these conditions. The potential of miRNAs as therapeutic targets and diagnostic biomarkers was of significant interest, particularly for conditions like psoriasis and SLE.
