TLDR Finasteride 1mg daily effectively increases hair growth and slows hair loss in men with male pattern baldness over two years.
In a study conducted on 16 men aged between 18 and 42 years with moderate vertex pattern hair loss, the efficacy of finasteride 1mg daily was evaluated over a period of 2 years. The study found that after 6 months to 1 year of treatment, there was a significant improvement in hair growth as assessed by the patients themselves, the investigator, and through clinical photographs. The positive effects of finasteride were maintained throughout the second year. The drug was generally well tolerated with no significant adverse effects reported. The conclusion of the study was that finasteride 1mg taken daily for 2 years is effective in slowing the progression of hair fall and increasing hair growth in men with male pattern hair loss.
