TLDR Lichen planopilaris can occur with multiple autoimmune diseases.
This case report discusses a female patient in her late 30s with hypothyroidism and Crohn's disease, who was diagnosed with lichen planopilaris (LPP), an uncommon inflammatory scalp condition leading to irreversible alopecia. The diagnosis was confirmed through physical and dermoscopic examination after she experienced gradual hair loss over four months. The report highlights that individuals with autoimmune diseases are more likely to develop additional autoimmune conditions, and the presence of three or more such diseases is termed multiple autoimmune syndrome (MAS). This case is notable as it is the first reported instance of LPP being associated with MAS.
