TLDR Low-Level Laser Therapy might be an effective alternative hair loss treatment for some people.
In 2018, a document discussed the potential of Low-Level Laser Therapy (LLLT) as a treatment for various forms of hair loss, including female and male pattern hair loss, alopecia areata, and chemotherapy-induced alopecia. The authors reviewed clinical studies and concluded that LLLT could be a promising alternative for patients who do not respond to conventional treatments or do not wish to undergo hair transplantation. However, they noted that the therapy seemed to work better for some individuals than others, and factors predicting who would benefit most needed to be determined. They called for larger, longer-term placebo-controlled studies to confirm these findings and establish more consistent treatment protocols.
