TLDR IGF-1 and EGF together significantly boost hair follicle growth in cashmere goats.
The study investigated the effects of IGF-1 and EGF on the growth and morphology of primary hair follicles from Liaoning cashmere goats in vitro. It was found that IGF-1 promoted the proliferation of dermal papilla and matrix cells, while EGF regulated the differentiation of outer root sheath cells. The combination of IGF-1 and EGF stimulated the formation of larger hair bulbs. The optimal concentrations for promoting follicle growth were 10 ng/mL for IGF-1 and 20 ng/mL for EGF. The combined supplementation of IGF-1 and EGF significantly enhanced hair follicle growth compared to using either factor alone.
