TLDR Free testosterone is the most common hormone marker in PCOS, and age affects DHEAS levels.
This study assessed hyperandrogenemia patterns in 133 women with PCOS at Hayatabad Medical Complex. Elevated free testosterone was found in 34.6% of participants, making it the most common androgen marker, followed by total testosterone (24.8%) and DHEAS (24.1%). A significant association was noted between age and increased DHEAS levels (p = 0.046), but no significant links were found with BMI or menopausal status. The findings highlight the importance of free testosterone in PCOS biochemical assessment and suggest that age-related DHEAS variations necessitate personalized hormonal evaluations for better diagnosis and management.
