TLDR Peripilar signs can help diagnose androgenetic alopecia and reveal its cause.
This document is a summary of five different studies that investigated the histological features of peripilar signs associated with androgenetic alopecia (AGA). The studies found that peripilar signs were commonly found in both males and females with AGA, and were mainly detected in subjects with high hair density scores. The studies also found a link between peripilar signs and perifollicular infiltrates, which are mainly composed of lymphocytes. The authors suggest that peripilar signs may be a useful diagnostic tool for AGA and may provide insight into the pathogenesis of the condition.
