Trichoscopic Findings in Androgenetic Alopecia and Their Clinical Correlation

    In a study conducted from October 2019 to March 2020, 100 patients with androgenetic alopecia (AGA) were examined using trichoscopy. The study found that hair dimension diversity and peripilar sign were present in all grades of AGA, and there was a significant increase in yellow dots, honeycomb pattern, focal atrichia, empty follicles, and hypertrophied sebaceous glands in advanced stages of AGA. Multihair follicular units and new hair were significantly seen in early stages of AGA. In female AGA, multihair follicular units and new hair were significantly seen in Ludwig's grade 1. The study concluded that trichoscopy is a valuable tool for diagnosing and monitoring AGA.
