TLDR Trichoscopy is useful for diagnosing and assessing androgenetic alopecia severity.
This study conducted at PNS Shifa Hospital in Karachi, Pakistan, examined the correlation between trichoscopic findings and disease severity in 150 individuals with androgenetic alopecia (AGA). Using a handheld dermatoscope, researchers found that trichoscopic findings were positively correlated with disease severity in both male and female patients, except for brown and white peripilar signs in males. The study concluded that trichoscopy is a practical tool for early diagnosis and assessing the severity of AGA, potentially reducing the need for scalp biopsies.
