TLDR BeauTop helps hair grow by increasing certain growth factors.
The study from April 23, 2018, examined the impact of BeauTop (BT), a health food supplement with Chinese herbs, on hair growth in C57BL/6 mice with induced alopecia. The mice received 0.6 g/kg/day of BT for 12 days, which resulted in significant hair growth by day 8 compared to the control group. BT was found to increase the expression of epidermal growth factor (EGF) and fibroblast growth factor-7 (FGF-7), and decrease fibroblast growth factor-5 (FGF-5), without affecting insulin-like growth factor 1 (IGF-1). These findings suggest that BT may be an effective treatment for alopecia by modulating EGF and FGF-7 levels. The number of mice used in the study was not mentioned, and further research, including clinical trials, is needed to confirm BT's effects on human hair growth.
