Fractional CO2 Laser, Platelet Rich Plasma and Combination of Both in Treatment of Female Pattern Hair Loss
TLDR Combining fractional CO2 laser and PRP is very effective for treating female hair loss.
The study evaluated the efficacy of platelet-rich plasma (PRP), fractional CO2 laser, and their combination in treating female pattern hair loss (FPHL) in 30 patients using a split-scalp method. Treatments were administered every 2 weeks for 4 sessions, then monthly for 2 months, with evaluations conducted after each session and 3 months post-treatment. Results showed significant improvements in terminal hair, vellus hair, hair thickness, and density, with the combination treatment outperforming PRP, fractional CO2, and saline alone (P < 0.05). The study concluded that combining fractional CO2 laser and PRP has a synergistic effect, making it an excellent alternative to injections for stimulating hair growth in FPHL patients.
