TLDR Long-term use of finasteride and minoxidil may harm male reproductive health in mice.
This study investigates the long-term effects of oral minoxidil and finasteride on the testicular and epididymal health of adult Balb/c mice. Over 42 and 84 days, minoxidil exposure led to a reduction in the proportion of seminiferous tubules, epithelial detachment, and vacuolization, indicating potential adverse effects on male reproductive health. While testosterone levels remained unchanged, estradiol concentrations were notably reduced. This research highlights the need for further investigation into the reproductive side effects of these commonly used hair loss treatments.
