TLDR Finasteride is effective and safe for treating hair loss, working better in younger men.
The study evaluated the efficacy and safety of 1mg/d oral finasteride in treating 117 men with Androgenetic alopecia (AGA) across different age groups. Participants were divided into two groups: those aged ≤26 years and those aged >26 years. Over a 1-year period, the younger group showed higher effective rates at 3, 6, 9, and 12 months (42.31%, 65.38%, 88.46%, and 96.15%, respectively) compared to the older group (28.33%, 46.67%, 73.33%, and 80.00%, respectively). The study concluded that finasteride was effective and safe for treating AGA, with younger patients experiencing better efficacy.
