TLDR Fat injection is more effective than PRP for improving post-burn facial scars.
This study compared the efficacy of fat injection and platelet-rich plasma (PRP) in treating post-burn facial scars in 60 patients, divided equally into two groups. Both treatments were assessed using the Vancouver score (VS) and histological evaluation. Results showed that the fat injection group had a significantly lower VS and higher epidermal thickness compared to the PRP group, indicating better scar improvement. Both treatments were generally safe, with minor cases of edema reported. The study concludes that autologous fat injection is an effective and safe technique for improving post-burn facial scars, but recommends further research with a larger patient population and longer follow-up.
