TLDR Platelet-rich plasma helps heal second-degree burns and reduces scarring.
This study investigated the therapeutic effects of platelet-rich plasma (PRP) on second-degree skin burns and scar formation in 70 adult male albino rats. The rats were divided into three groups, with Group III receiving a subcutaneous injection of PRP immediately after burn induction. The results showed that the PRP-treated subgroups (III-A and III-B) demonstrated enhanced healing and accelerated scar maturation compared to the untreated subgroups (II-A and II-B), with more significant effects observed after 4 weeks. The study concludes that PRP is effective in promoting healing and scar maturation in second-degree skin burns.
