TLDR The combination treatment was more effective for scalp hair regrowth but caused more irritation.
The study investigated the efficacy of combining intralesional triamcinolone acetonide with topical calcipotriol versus using intralesional triamcinolone acetonide alone in treating scalp and beard alopecia areata. Conducted as a randomized single-blinded clinical trial, the research included a sample size of 100 participants. Results indicated that the combination therapy was significantly more effective in promoting hair regrowth compared to the monotherapy. The findings suggest that adding topical calcipotriol to intralesional triamcinolone acetonide treatment could enhance therapeutic outcomes for patients with alopecia areata.
