TLDR The combination of calcipotriol and PRP is the most effective treatment for alopecia areata.
This study evaluated the effectiveness of topical calcipotriol, intralesional autologous platelet-rich plasma (PRP) injection, and their combination in treating alopecia areata (AA) in 78 patients. Results showed significant reductions in the Severity of Alopecia Tool (SALT) scores across all treatment groups, with the combination treatment showing the greatest improvement (18.98 points), followed by the PRP group (6.87 points), and the calcipotriol group (3.73 points). The study concluded that all treatments were effective, with the combination therapy being the most effective.
