TLDR Pumpkin seed oil promotes hair growth and improves hair texture without harmful effects.
The study evaluated the efficacy and toxicity of oral and topical pumpkin seed oil (PSO) on hair growth in 36 BALB/c male mice. Over 14 days, oral PSO significantly increased the number and length of hair follicles and improved skin collagen in the epilated area without causing genotoxicity or altering oxidative balance in the liver. The treatment also resulted in a silky hair texture and no skin irritation. The findings suggest that PSO could be a promising alternative for hair growth without the adverse effects associated with conventional treatments like minoxidil and finasteride.
