TLDR Body structure can help identify alopecia areata in Ukrainian men, but not predict its course.
The study aimed to analyze discriminant models for predicting the occurrence and course of alopecia areata in young Ukrainian men based on body structure and size. It involved 81 patients with alopecia areata and 82 healthy controls. The research found highly informative discriminant models (p<0.001) that could differentiate between healthy individuals and those with alopecia areata, with shoulder width and tibia width being significant factors. However, predicting the course of alopecia areata based on body parameters was not possible. Key differences in models included trunk and pelvis dimensions and body length.
