TLDR Urticaria patients have different skinfold thickness patterns compared to healthy individuals, with some variations between men and women.
This study investigates sex-specific differences in skinfold thickness among 40 young Ukrainian men and 40 young Ukrainian women with acute and chronic urticaria, compared to a control group of healthy individuals. The findings reveal that urticaria patients generally have lower skinfold thickness on the upper limb and shin, with women also showing lower values under the scapula and on the thigh, but higher values on the chest, abdomen, and side. Men with urticaria exhibit lower skinfolds on the forearm, scapula, and thigh, but higher on the chest, abdomen, and side. No significant differences were found between male and female urticaria patients, although women showed higher skinfolds on the forearm, chest, and thigh, and lower under the scapula. These insights could enhance diagnosis and treatment strategies for urticaria.
