TLDR Low zinc is linked to all alopecia types, and low copper is linked to male pattern alopecia.
The study evaluated serum copper and zinc levels in 250 patients with different types of alopecia compared to healthy controls. It found that low zinc levels are associated with all types of alopecia, while low copper levels are specifically linked to male pattern alopecia. Zinc supplementation may benefit all alopecia types, and copper supplementation should be considered for male pattern alopecia if copper levels are low.
