TLDR Men with alopecia areata tend to have larger limb and trunk circumferences than healthy men.
The study examined body circumference dimensions in 81 young Ukrainian men with alopecia areata compared to 82 healthy controls. Results showed that men with alopecia areata generally had significantly larger upper and lower limb circumferences and trunk measurements compared to healthy men, with increases ranging from 2.59% to 16.39%. Differences were also noted between patients with varying severity of alopecia areata, with trends towards smaller shoulder and forearm circumferences in more severe cases, and larger hip and chest circumferences in less severe cases. These findings suggest that body circumference measurements may reflect metabolic and hormonal status in men with alopecia areata, potentially aiding in personalized diagnosis and treatment.

A user's hair regrowth journey using biotin and minoxidil after initial treatments with Nizoral shampoo and Ketoconazole serum didn't work. The comments suggest the hair loss might not be male pattern baldness (MPB), but possibly Alopecia Areata, an autoimmune disorder, and recommend getting a second opinion and considering other treatments like corticosteroids.
