TLDR Apoptosis may contribute to hair loss in androgenetic alopecia.
This study evaluated the role of apoptosis regulatory markers in androgenetic alopecia (AGA) by examining the expression of various markers in the hair follicles of AGA patients and normal controls. The study found that the bald area of AGA has a lower proliferation rate and increased DNA damage, which may result in increased apoptosis and follicular miniaturization. The study suggests that apoptosis may play a role in the pathogenesis of AGA, but further studies are needed to confirm this.
